Where I stand on the schools.
The Chatham Elementary School is more than just a building with classrooms. It serves as a hub fostering connection, pride and a sense of belonging for our Community. Generations of families have fond memories of their school days at CES and experiences at Monomoy Community Services. A jewel of the Town, Monomoy Community Services brings pride and distinction to the Town of Chatham.
The Monomoy Regional District has been a success and its reputation has influenced parents and students to remain within district over choosing other options, like Charter Schools. I am ready for the upcoming negotiations of the inter-municipal agreement.
All facilities need attention, and the broad goal is to provide safe, well-maintained, and high-quality learning environments for our students. I support exploring all options to strengthen enrollment and improve facilities. This includes thoughtful consideration of School Choice with Harwich, new programs, and economic incentives that keep families engaged and invested in Town life.
As Vice Chair of the Human Services Committee, I successfully advocated for the increase in funding of the Child Care Voucher Program. The budget went from $7,000 to over $100,000.
