Sewering and Wastewater Management

Chatham’s wastewater system is critical to public health, the environment, and the town’s long-term growth. Many areas of town are already sewered, but there is still a long way to go, and timely connections are essential to the success of the system.

I support efforts to prioritize sensitive areas, ensure orders from the Board of Health are followed, and work with residents to address challenges such as grinder pump installation and hookups. The town provides pumps and support to help property owners meet requirements, and careful communication is key to keeping projects on track.

Infrastructure improvements—including backup generators and proper maintenance—are vital for reliability, especially during power outages. Completing sewer hookups responsibly also enables the town to pursue safe, thoughtful density and housing projects in the future.

My approach is practical and collaborative: help residents navigate requirements, ensure public health standards are met, and shepherd the system toward completion for the benefit of the entire community.
