Role of the Select Board

The Select Board is Chatham’s chief policy-making body, responsible for guiding town operations, overseeing water and sewer management, appointing key officials, and ensuring boards and commissions serve practical needs. The board sets priorities through an annual vision statement, establishing goals that align with the community’s values. The vision and policy statement is voted on annually.

Serving effectively on the Select Board requires collaboration, independent thinking, and respect for diverse perspectives. Members must work together as a leadership team, while contributing informed, thoughtful voices. Civil discourse, transparency, and accountability are central to building trust and delivering high-quality public services.

I believe in a Select Board that fosters open dialogue, balances independent judgment with teamwork, and keeps the town moving forward in the best interest of all residents.
